Obituary of Myree Layne Flanagan

Myree Layne Flanagan, beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, and dedicated member of her community, passed away on April 22, 2024, in Bluffton, South Carolina, at the age of 77. Myree was born on September 11, 1946, in Minot, North Dakota, to Milo and Myrtle Lokken.

Myree had a distinguished career with the Air Force as a civilian, earning numerous awards and accolades for her dedicated service. Her commitment to excellence and her passion for her work left a lasting impact on those she worked with.

Beyond her professional achievements, Myree was a devoted member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Bluffton, SC where she generously gave her time to organize charitable events and support the church community. Her kindness and selflessness touched the lives of many.

In her leisure time, Myree found joy in creative pursuits such as crochet, knitting, sewing, and gardening. She also cherished moments spent traveling and making memories with friends and family.

Myree is survived by her loving children, Angela (George) Metz and David (Jen) Flanagan, her sister Marianne (Craig) Hawk, her brother Myron (Kathy) Lokken, nieces, nephews, and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, David Flanagan Sr., her parents Milo and Myrtle Lokken, and her sisters Marlene Gunderson and Mona Lokken.

A memorial ceremony to celebrate Myree's life will be held on May 3, 2024, at 3:00 pm at St. Luke's United Methodist Church, located at 3080 Okatie Highway, Bluffton, SC 29910.

Her legacy of kindness, dedication, and love will forever be cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing her.
