Obituary of Charles and Marylouise Folkman

Charles (Chick) H. Folkman, Jr. died on January 9, 2024, at the Veteran’s Victory House in Walterboro, SC. He was 78 years old.

Marylouise Folkman (nee Grieco) died on September 26, 2023, on Hilton Head Island, SC. She was 74 years old.

Chick served in the US Air Force and completed two tours of duty in Vietnam under Red Horse Battalion. Marylou Graduated from St. Joseph’s High School in Camden, NJ and worked for a bank in East Camden.

Chick and Marylou were married on June 14, 1969, at St. Theresa’s Parrish in Runnemede, NJ where they settled and raised their three children, Robin, Kevin, and Ryan. Chick was a Boilermaker for 25 years and active in the Runnemede Fire Department. He also worked for his good friend Don Train’s tower company. A job he loved and enjoyed telling stories about the towers he climbed. Marylou worked for a doctor’s office and raised their children.

After their children were grown, they relocated to Johnston County North Carolina to be closer to their daughter Robin, her husband Johnny and their two children. Chick became a Pipefitter where he worked for five years before retiring and Marylou became active in their church.

Marylou was preceded in death by her brother’s Christian and Thomas and is survived by her brother Paul Grieco of NJ. Chick was an only child. They are both survived by their daughter; Robin and son-in-law Johnny Medina, sons and daughters in law, Kevin and Noelle and Ryan and Vanessa as well as their 8 grandkids; Brooke, Jared and his wife Laura, Danny, Brendan, Bridy, Shylah, Brighton and Savannah. 

All are welcome to attend a celebration of their lives which will be held on Saturday, February 10th, 2024, from 11 AM to 1 PM, at the Island Funeral Home, 4 Cardinal Road, Hilton Head SC, 29926.
