Obituary of Johnny Nash

Johnny Nash passed away after a short illness on Wednesday, January 3rd, 2024. His wife Joanne was by his side.

He was born in Ithaca, New York but moved to Charleston, SC as a toddler. Johnny loved life and loved people. He was rarely without a smile and if you were his friend, he was loyal to the end.

He served in the U.S. Navy and graduated with a bachelor’s degree from the University of South Carolina. He attended the University of Tennessee for his Master’s. He worked hotel sales at the Hyatt in Palmetto Dunes among other places.

He switched back and forth to Food and beverage because he loved talking to people. He met his wife at LaPola’s Italian Restaurant, and they were together from that night on. Johnny loved cars and fashion. He had a debonair style which helped him be successful in owning a clothing store during college. He annoyed his wife by buying a new vehicle every time she went to visit her mom in Boston.

He was also known as No Cash Nash because he rarely carried cash and had an AMEX card well before debit cards were around. Johnny will be missed by many who were lucky enough to know him.

He is survived by his wife Joanne who called him the Love of Her Life. He has a sister Maureen residing in New York. He also had Philip and Shannon Saba along with nephews Philip and Matthew in Boston. Johnny would want a special thank you to all the medical staff in the ICU unit at Hilton Head Hospital. A memorial service will be held at a private home on Saturday, January 13th from 2 PM - 4 PM. All family and friends are welcome.
