It is with sadness that I can’t be physically with my family at Dad’s services today even though I know I am with them in spirit. I know Dad would want to be remembered first and foremost by honoring God and thanking Jesus for preparing a place for him in heaven.
I will always be thankful for the model Dad set for his family. He guided us to grow in Christ following Proverbs 22:6: “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” We have not departed from the Lord and, therefore, have joy in knowing that Dad and Mom are with God for eternity.
I am also thankful for Dad’s service to our country in WWII. Because of that service and his fellow veterans we have had great freedoms in our country while growing up, especially the freedom to worship our Lord.
Dad’s favorite verse was Romans 8:28: “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” Today at his memorial service they are singing the hymn It Is Well With My Soul. It is well with Dad’s soul. Amen.

When I was Young I couldn’t understand why aunt Marge and Uncle Dick went to church so much. Then I met Jesus in my 30s. I knew the answer instantly and I called them on the phone and told them that I had asked the Lord into my life. They said praise God. From then on I drove to Hilton Head Every year to spend a week with them. We had such a great spiritual conversations and played countless games of Scrabble. I never won but then again neither did Uncle Dick, aunt Marge was the winner. I will never ever forget those visits and how much they meant to me. After aunt Marge went to be with the Lord I continue to come and visit with Uncle Dick. I got him to play dominoes one time And I won the game. I was so thrilled. He was one great man, a great Christian a man to admire and follow. I know they are rejoicing with each other and with our Lord. God bless all of you find comfort in the extraordinary amount of time you had them here with you. Love from me and all my family God bless everyone
