Wise; friendly to all; always ready to help; patient; an excellent Mentor; good, dry sense of Humor; Kind & sensitive to others; Loved to know about food ... good food; Passionate about his new career in retirement ... in History, Culture, Heritage, Gullah history, The Living Gullah Culture ... and much more. He was incredibly curious about the past ... and the present. Laurie and Lou were the perfect team, the perfect couple.
Loved him a lot.

I had the pleasure of meeting Lou only once at an event at the Fort Mitchel site. I was the only one there and he gave me a wonderful tour of the site. He was so excited about all that was happening on the island in regard to the Zion Chapel of Ease site. Just a pleasure to meet this kind man. I am very sorry to hear of his death, it is a loss to all of us here!

Although my dear friend of 55 years, Laurette, was married to Lou for 18, I only had the pleasure of knowing him for the past few. In my mind's eye I picture him as being relaxed, gracious, funny and a great conversationalist who always enjoyed being with his family and friends. Thank you, Lou, for being such a loving companion to my friend. I will miss you.

Please accept my condolences in the loss of Lou. Having gone through it myself recently I can understand what you are dealing with right now. Just know he is no longer suffering and he and Bill are up there having a great Italian meal together.
