Obituary of Mary Ellen Louise Wilson

Mary Ellen Louise Wilson (nee McBee) of Hilton Head Island, SC, passed away peacefully at home on June 16, 2018. She was born in Flint, Michigan on December 24, 1924 to Raymond and Rena (Shirkey) McBee. She graduated from Flint Central High School. Mary Ellen married John R Wilson, Jr. in Flint, MI, June 1945. She was a homemaker, enjoyed time working in the yard, playing golf, reading and traveling throughout the world. Known by some family as the energizer bunny, she was busy and active the majority of her life. She was a member of Atlas Valley Country Club, Flint Golf Club and Oyster Reed Golf Club and other organizations in Flint. Mary Ellen volunteered at St. Christopher Episcopal Church in the office and with the choir. She is survived by daughter Beth (Natalie Nelson) Wilson, granddaughters Alexis (Erik) Schreiber, Kathryn (Chris) Richey, Julia (Matthew) Waidler and Anna (Florence Kerns) Wilson, 3 great grandsons and daughters in law Margaret Carr and Kathleen Joeckel. She also leaves one niece and three nephews. She was preceded in death by husband John, son Douglas G. Wilson, M.D., parents and sister, Patricia. A special thank you to Tidewater Hospice, Nurse Joni, Dawn and her caregivers from Right at Home, Cathy, Thomasina, Clotilda, Brittney and Pauline.
