Obituary of Daniel Kiely

Daniel Kiely Daniel departed this life Friday, December 15 to answer a call to become the new Executive Chef behind the Pearly Gates. Daniel was born in Philadelphia on December 8, 1984 and living there three years before moving to Clinton, NY for six years, then moving to Hilton Head Island for his 10th birthday. Daniel grew up on the island and attended local schools, graduating from Hilton Head High. He worked part time since the age of 14 at The Coligny Grill and Ice Cream Cone in Coligny Plaza. His parents purchased the business in 2005. His father always said that Daniel was the most neat, accurate and fast short order cook he ever had the pleasure to work with side by side. After selling the business Daniel attended Virginia Culinary school and graduated on the President’s List with a Certificate of Achievement awarded for a 4.0 GPA. After graduating Daniel held cooking positions at various Florida locations, then Sumter, SC before most recently returning to the island. At the time of death, he worked at the Hilton Head Health in Shipyard Plantation. Daniel will be dearly missed by his beloved parents, Jane and Dennis Kiely and many great, good friends on Hilton Head. Please remember Daniel at his happiest times while listening to his music, playing the bass guitar and especially preparing creative meals. Friends will be received 4pm to 6pm Thursday at The Island Funeral Home and Crematory.
