Carl Gebhardt and I have had our "conversation of regrets" that we did not know of Bill's passing although we both live at the Seabrook. Carl and Nancy, Don and Carol Fellner and Dixon and me were very close to Bill and Beryl when we all arrived about the same time in 1994. Our hearts are heavy with sadness that we lost this wonderful guy who we knew as as a dear friend and will forever remember our great conversations on our foursome's "nights out" ... and at the Unitarian Fellowship and World Affairs. Farewell dear friend, you will always have a place in our hearts.

To Bill's family:
This member of the World Affairs Council of Hilton Head is truly saddened to learn of the loss of one of its leaders/founders. I worked with Bill on several WACHH initiatives, most notably the Great Decisions Discussion Program. He never missed a speaker program unless he was out of town or not feeling well. I will surely miss him. Joan Apple Lemoine.
Here are some comments by others:
Sad loss. Bill was a farsighted leader who helped build this organization. He will be missed especially by those of us that he brought in (to World Affairs Council of Hilton Head) almost two decades ago. Bill Pendley
Bill was one of the dedicated leaders of WAC. He was thoughtful and knowledgeable in his role as a founder of our organization.
We will miss him. Neil Funnell
Toni and I are truly saddened to learn of Bill’s passing. I had the pleasure of working with him when he was economic minister counselor in Tokyo and later in Washington. As a terrific diplomat, skilled negotiator, able and accomplished negotiator, insightful observer and all-around mensch, Bill made the experience my privilege. It was our great good fortune to meet again in Hilton Head and work together at WACHHI. He was someone whose friendship I’ll always value. Kent Harrington
We would be blessed to honor his memory at any service his family might host.
