Obituary of Robert L Burhoe

Robert Louis Burhoe, of Hilton Head Island, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 16, 2023. Robert was born in Germantown, PA, raised his family outside of Boston, MA and lived on Hilton Head Island for the past 24 years. Robert was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years and lifelong love Rose. He is survived by his children Debra, William, Karen and her husband Neal, his sister Jeanette, his grand children Nicole, Christopher, Andrew, and Sara, and five great grandchildren.

Robert served in the US Army from 1953 to 1955, received his Bachelor’s Degree and master’s credits from Northeastern University and was an entrepreneur who started Cosmec, Inc., a public infrastructure company, in 1965.

Robert is remembered as a man of strong values with a profound sense of right and wrong. A man who was willing to make the sacrifices, often necessary, to stand by one’s beliefs. He was quiet in his strength and generosity, respected and admired for his calm and unwavering demeanor.

Robert loved tennis, both as a player and a fan. He loved traveling by train and car, admiring the physical beauty of America. He was an enormous fan of group trivia. He was the father who, despite a demanding work schedule, never missed a child’s sporting event or school show.

Robert will be dearly missed by his family and friends and will be at peace being laid to rest next to his loving wife Rose.

A Memorial Service will be held at Six Oaks Cemetery, on Hilton Head Island, in the Fall of 2023.
