HARLEY RAYMOND "BUD" DeVORE

3/26/1947 - 2/19/2023

Bud DeVore, 75, passed away peacefully at home on February 19, 2023 after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease.  He was born on March 26, 1947, in Aurora, IL, to the late Harley F. and Dorothea (Miller) DeVore.  His family moved to Norman, OK, when he was eight where he grew up, attending the University of Oklahoma (GO SOONERS!) and earning a BS in Chemical Engineering and an MBA before starting his career with Alcoa and then Virginia Chemicals.

During his 40+ years in the chemical industry, he lived all over the Country:  Los Angeles, Pittsburgh (where he met his wife, Kathy), Palestine, TX, Virginia Beach and Charlotte.  He and Kathy retired to Hilton Head in 2010, where he enjoyed golfing with the Duffers.

In addition to his wife, Bud is survived by a daughter, Jennifer (Jamie) Beck of Raleigh, NC; a son Christopher DeVore of Encinitas, CA; and 2 grandchildren, Ella and Aaron Beck.  He is also survived by two sisters, Fallie (Bill) Shepherd of Tomball, TX, and Cady (Bob) Walker of Sonora, CA, and a brother, Perry (Henrietta) DeVore of DeSoto, MO.

A Celebration of Life will be held later this Spring.  Memorials may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research or to the Parkinson's Foundation.
