Obituary of Anna May Castricone Cronin

Anna May Castricone-Cronin, age 87, passed away, Saturday November 5, 2022, at her Hilton Head, SC home surrounded by family. She was born in New Haven, CT to the late John Dominic Esposito and Madeline Orlando Esposito. She was also preceded in death by her husband Dr. Nicholas R Castricone JR.

 

She is survived by four children, Nicholas R Castricone III spouse Tracy Baker Castricone, Karen Leslie Wilson Crook, spouse Tom David Crook, Kathleen Ellen Castricone spouse Thomas Dowdle, David John Castricone spouse Kiley Durham. Grandchildren are Catherine Jo Anna Parrish Aquino and spouse Vincenzo Michael Aquino, Natalie Ann Willis Wilson, Robert Neal Wilson III, Nicholas R. Castricone IV, Gabriella Castricone Dowdle, Isabella Castricone Dowdle, David John Castricone JR, and Madeline Rose Castricone. In addition, she also survived by four Great Grandchildren, William Scott Parish III, Eleanor Harper Castricone, Olivia May Aquino, and Emery Noel Wilson.

 

Artist and retired Professional Educator, Anna May’s career began in the early 1960’s teaching students with intellectual disabilities in Charlottesville, VA. Passionate about her chosen profession; Education, she received her Masters Degree from Georgia State University as well as her Specialist Degree. She later worked as a career counselor, eventually becoming Dean of Students, at Georgia State University’s Perimeter College, until she retired in 2000.

 

Anna May was also a long-standing member of two global non-profit organizations, the Catholic Family Movement (CFM) and Partners of the America’s, where she demonstrated her passion for both organizations by serving in various leadership roles. Traveling to Partners of America’s sister city Pernambuco, Brazil numerous times, and visiting Kenya, Africa on behalf of CFM for a faith-based mission and cultural exchange in 1974. In addition, she was selected by the International Olympic Committee as the Ambassador for the Seychelles for the 1996 Olympics.

 

As an accomplished artist she received many awards from recognized institutions while residing in Los Angeles, California. As important as her professional career was to Anna May, she was foremost committed to her family, faith, and community. She enjoyed good friends, travel, playing the saxophone, Italian food, sweets and being surrounded by family.

 

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday January 14th at St. Thomas More parish in Decatur, Georgia. Visitation will begin at 9:30 AM followed by a funeral mass at 10:30 AM.
