Obituary of Dorothy Woods

Dorothy (Dottie) Hickman Woods, 83, of Hilton Head, South Carolina, passed away on September 4, 2022.

Dottie was born in Elkins, West Virginia.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Kathleen Ratliff, and her brother, Robert “Denny” Ratliff, Jr., as well as her grandparents and multiple aunts, uncles, and cousins.

She is survived by her husband, Joe W. Woods, of Bluffton, South Carolina; two sons, K. Craig Hickman (Audrey) of Moyock, North Carolina; Rob Hickman (Becky) of Pickerington, Ohio; grandson, Kenny Hickman (Debbie) of Rising Sun, Maryland; granddaughter Holly Cook (Matt) of Pickerington, Ohio; great-granddaughter, Kendra Hickman, of Rising Sun, Maryland; great-grandson, Cameron Cook, and great-granddaughter, Blaire Cook, of Pickerington, Ohio; sisters, Roberta “Bobbie” Carbaugh of Bluffton, South Carolina, and Ruby Machi, of Hilton Head, South Carolina; sister-in-law, Kathy Ratliff of Georgia; sister-in-law Larna Wells of Kentucky; brother-in-law, Chuck Woods (Patty) of Kentucky; numerous nieces and nephews, Amy Marsh of Texas; Angela Pahl (Ralph) of Georgia; Dustin Machi (Lisa) of Radford, Virginia; Tara Carbaugh of Bluffton, South Carolina; Katie Eure of Pfafftown, North Carolina; Mario Machi (Nicole) of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; as well as multiple great-nieces and great-nephews.

Dottie made her home at Village Cove Assisted Living in Hilton Head, South Carolina for the past two years.  She had many friends and enjoyed working in the courtyard at Village Cove.  She was cared for by Hospice Care of the Lowcountry in the last several weeks.  The family wishes to thank the staff at Village Cove and Hospice Care for everything they did to provide her peace and comfort in her final days.

The family will hold a private service at a later date.
