Obituary of Susan Lee Bennett

 

Susan Lee Bennett of Hilton Head Plantation on Hilton Head Island, SC passed away September 18 at her home.  

 

Mrs. Bennett was born June 24 in Hamilton, OH to Ezra Lee and Helen Ruth Elliott.  She graduated from Williamstown High School in 1969, attending Western Kentucky University and graduating in 1972 with an Elementary Education degree.  For five years she taught at New Haven Elementary before earning her Masters in Education from Xavier University.  She retired in 2006 after 20 years serving as guidance counselor at Charles H. Kelly Elementary School.

 

Mrs. Bennett married Ivan S. Bennett on August 3, 1974 in Indianapolis, IN.  They moved in 1976 to Burlington, KY where they spent 30 years raising their children and finishing their careers.  In 2008, Susan and Ivan retired to Hilton Head to enjoy the beach, play tennis, and travel the country visiting friends and family.  She is survived by her husband of 47 years and their three sons, daughters- in-law, and six grandchildren: Jonathan L. Bennett (Casey; Blake), Jason C. Bennett (Erin; Miles, Grace, Brooks) and Joseph W. Bennett (Nathalie; Elizabeth, Benjamin). 

 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Charles H. Kelly Elementary School with funds used for special education needs as determined by the school and in Mrs. Bennett’s honor.
