Stacy Wolfe

Obituary of Stacy Wolfe

Stacy Wolfe, a loving husband, proud father and grandfather, died peacefully on February 4, 2021 with his wife Carol by his side, at their home on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.

Born in Akron, Ohio, in 1947 to the late Stacy and Maxine (Firestone) Wolfe, he grew up with his sister in Barrington, Rhode Island, where he was class president of Barrington High School.  After graduating from Colgate University in 1969, he earned his law degree from The University of Akron School of Law in 1974 and a LLM (Master of Laws) in Taxation from Boston University School of Law in 1979.  He also served our country in the Army National Guard. Stacy met and married his wife Carol (White) in Barrington where they raised their two children, Chris and Kate.  After a 25 year career with New England Financial and MetLife, he retired in 2010 as Senior Vice President and Associate General Counsel of the Legal Department in their Boston office.  Professionally, he demonstrated a tireless work ethic and gained tremendous satisfaction from helping clients and providing for his family. Stacy’s outgoing and “larger than life” personality engaged countless people across his professional career and daily train commute.

Upon retirement, Stacy and Carol moved to Hilton Head Island where his reach only expanded as a fixture on the Dolphin Head Golf Course, and on his walks along the Port Royal Sound accompanied by his beloved dogs.  His genuine interest in each person he came across, true generosity, and his perpetual optimism left everyone he encountered feeling more positive, hopeful and connected.

While never stated, he possessed perfect clarity on what brought him joy and the life he wanted to live.  His many joys included golf, dogs, live music, dancing, spending time outdoors, and most importantly, his family. Stacy’s love and support for his family was his everything.  At his core, he was truly grateful for all that he had, and wanted to help others in any way possible.

Stacy is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Carol; son, Chris Wolfe (Kristin); daughter, Kate Daughtry (Jarrod) and three grandchildren, Molly and Weston Wolfe and Eliza Daughtry who all adored their “Gampy.”  Stacy is also survived by his sister, Beverly Cunningham.

Stacy will be greatly missed. . . and in his words, “Could you do me a favor? Have a great day!”.

Memorials can be made in Stacy’s name to the Hilton Head Humane Society and Hospice Care of the Lowcountry.  Those interested in attending a Life Celebration and Memorial Golf Tournament on the other side of the current public health crisis can email StacyMemorialHHI@gmail.com by April 1, 2021 for further information.
