Obituary of Barbara Toman Mundy

Barbara Toman Mundy peacefully passed away on January 14, 2021; she was 87 years old. Barbara was happily married for 65 years to Ted, had three children, Jill, Ted, and Beth and six grandchildren – Buck, Erin, Randy, Scott, Thea, and Erika.  She was a wonderful wife and true partner, a loving Mom, and the best Grandmother anyone could hope for. 

Barbara was the rock of her family as she was a strong woman with a kind gentle heart.  Barbara made every holiday special from Christmas’ to birthdays and loved to decorate for each. She had the best giggle, and it was not uncommon for her to quickly become engaged in a family giggle that soon went out of control.  Barbara was known for her back rubs when not feeling well and teaching her children special nighttime prayers.

Barbara was born in Plainfield NJ, and a resident in Hilton Head Island for over 25 years. Throughout her working career, she taught fourth grade, special needs, and gifted children. She was always willing to teach and quickly went to drawing things with her fingers to enhance the explanation.

Barbara loved her church, St. Andrew by the Sea. She was an active member in the choir, bells, and Stephen Ministry. A special memorial service will be held after the pandemic allows us to gather. Please look for announcements from St. Andrew by the Sea Church for the date and time.
