Rob was in our Friday morning Bible study that meets at Dunkin Donuts. His friends Brad McRee and Jim Daniels of Hilton Head Island Community Church invited him and we were studying the book of John when we got the news. All of us were surprised and deeply saddened and still are. He was cheerful, contributed to the discussion with wisdom and life experience, shared about being an alcoholic, talked about his family. We had breakfast together early on and got to know each other a little.
He missed some meetings and I reached out to him. Once he said he was experiencing PTSD, another time vertigo, and another time knees (I think). I offered to meet with him a few times, he said he had talked to his son and was doing better and didn't need to meet.
We still talk about him every week - can't believe he's gone home. Too young. The world changes when someone like Rob leaves us. We hope and pray you all are doing okay. I know you miss him. So do we.
God bless,
Joe Newton
