Obituary of Amy Ellen O’Leary Creeden

Amy Ellen O’Leary Creeden of Hilton Head Island beloved sister and mother, passed away in her home surrounded by loved ones on May 5, 2018 after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Amy was born September 20, 1956 and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Francis St. Clair O’Leary Sr. and Frances June (Slenker) O’Leary. Amy was a graduate of Mt. Lebanon High School class of 1974. She moved to the island from Stone Harbor, New Jersey in 1982. Having been diagnosed with cancer in January of 2016 and then found to be in remission in August 2016, the cancer returned in July of 2017 when she was determined to be terminal. Typical of Amy, she put up a good, brave and strong fight right up to the end. She is survived by her devoted sons Sean, Alex, and Dustin of Hilton Head Island who she dedicatedly home schooled and proudly they have all graduated from college. She is further survived by her siblings Michael (Connie) of Bluff City, TN, Sarah O’Leary Takacs (John, deceased) of Hilton Head, Patrick O’Leary (Kathy) of Bluffton, SC, Francis O’Leary (Melisa) of Bluffton, SC, Christopher O’Leary, Gregory O’Leary, Thomas O’Leary and Megan O’Leary all of Hilton Head, as well as numerous (too many to count) nieces and nephews. She is predeceased in death by her father, Francis St. Clair O’Leary, mother, Frances June O’Leary, brother, Sean O’Leary (Christine), and sister Susan O’Leary Wise (Steve). Visitation will be at The Island Funeral Home on Friday, May 11, from 2:00pm-4:00pm and 6:00pm-8:00pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Francis by the Sea Catholic Church on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at 1:00pm with inurnment at St. Francis Columbarium.
