Obituary of Edison Garner

Edison (Ted) Wesley Garner Jr., 86, husband of Willodene (Deane) Butler Garner of Hilton Head Island passed away on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at his residence. Born on November 28, 1930, in Spring Valley, Illinois, he was the son of Edison and Veda Garner. Mr. Garner served as an audit clerk in the United States Army, where he served for 2 years. He was an accountant and assistant vice president with Haverty Furniture, Inc. He was a member of First Baptist Church and in their choir and quartet. He is survived by his wife, Deane and daughters Teri and husband David Owen of Ellijay, GA, Patti Reagin from Cleveland, GA, Carol and her husband Frank Cooper from Buford, GA, Gale and her husband Melvin Williams from Lawrenceville, GA; his son Eddie and his wife Gina Garner from Alpharetta, GA; brother-in-law Charles and his wife Susie Butler of Athens, AL; his close friend Mike Hamrick of Lilburn, GA; 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Teddy Garner of Lilburn, GA. A visitation will be held at The Island Funeral Home and Crematory on Sunday, November 12 from 1 to 2 pm with a funeral service to follow at 2 pm.
